About Us
The River Fund Maine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting education, community development, and environmental stewardship in Western Maine. We provide college and trade school scholarships, fund local community organizations, and invest in initiatives that strengthen the region and expand opportunity.
A key focus of our work is supporting youth recreation and outdoor access. We fund programs that promote human-powered sports such as cross-country skiing, mountain biking, alpine ski touring, running, hiking, and climbing — fostering health, resilience, and a lasting connection to Maine’s natural landscape.
Our Story
Just look around — we’re fortunate to live and play in a remarkable mountain landscape. But access to opportunity in Western Maine isn’t shared equally, and not everyone has the resources or support needed to build a fulfilling life here.
Founded in 2018, The River Fund Maine was created to help close that gap. Through college and trade school scholarships, educational programs, and support for community initiatives, we work to expand access to opportunity and meaningful experiences. By bringing together those who live, work, and play in this region, TRFM helps strengthen our community and unlock the full potential of the people who call Western Maine home.
