Celebrate the start of winter and the holiday season in unforgettable style at Santa Sunday, a beloved annual tradition at Sunday River Resort. Watch as more than 250 Santas take over the slopes, spreading holiday cheer while supporting a great cause.
All proceeds from the event benefit the River Fund Maine, helping support youth education and recreation programs throughout the Bethel area.
Event Overview
Santa Sunday brings together hundreds of skiers and riders dressed head-to-toe in full Santa attire for a one-of-a-kind on-snow celebration. This festive spectacle has been featured on national platforms like the Travel Channel and continues to grow each year.
Last year alone, participating Santas helped raise over $5,000 for the River Fund—making this event as meaningful as it is memorable.
How It Works

Who: 250+ pre-registered participants

All Santas must arrive in full Santa attire, including:

Event Schedule
7:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Check-in at South Ridge Lodge
(Participants must arrive fully dressed and complete a waiver)
11:00 AM
Group photo shoot (slopeside at South Ridge)
After Photo

Ride up South Ridge Express

Ski down Broadway Trail together (green run)
Lift Ticket Details

Your initial lift ticket is valid until 11:00 AM

To ski for the rest of the day:

You must participate in the 11:00 AM photo

After the parade, your ticket will be validated for full-day use

Bonus: Participating Santas will also receive an additional lift ticket valid through Christmas Eve
For Spectators
Not skiing? No problem! Spectators are encouraged to arrive at South Ridge by 11:00 AM to catch the best view of this festive parade of Santas.
